What's the consensus on Castaway Miniatures Colonials? They look nice. What do you think?

I presume you're referring to the Australian company Castaway Arts castawayarts.com.au ? If so, then while I don't have any of Gerry's Colonials, I do have a large number of his Franco-Prussian War figures. They are very nicely cast and fit in well with many of the other 25/28mm sized figures.

Here's a good example: link . There are Castaway Arts, Foundry, Eagles of Empire, and vintage Scruby 1" figures in these three batteries.

Hi ColCampbell. Yes, it is Castaway Arts. I think they make they make fine military miniatures. I like that you can buy figures separately instead of packs. Overall, Perry-Miniatures makes the best 28mm castings. Empress Miniatures, Wargames Foundry, and Casting Room Miniatures are great. Black Tree Design is also. I'm not going to trash the vintage lines like Scruby, Minifigs, Hinchliffe, Genesis or any other others because I have some and THEY PAVED THE WAY for the new lines of miniatures. Trashing them would be like be trashing America's first generation of Astronauts (Mercury, Gemini, Apollo) because they paved the way for the succeeding generations. Quite a few them walked on the Moon which has not be done by the newbies. Kind Regards, GJ

I have ordered a number of their colonial castings. I'd give them a B-B+. They are a little bigger than Perry and Foundry, but fit well with Black Tree. A bit smaller that Artizan. The poses sometimes look a bit stiff and the detail of faces not quite as nice as Perry or Foundry. They do however fit an important niche in having figures for 19th C. West African empires

Another vote in favor of buying from Castaway Arts!

Quality of product is good to excellent, but the real key is the couple who ARE "Castaway Arts." Gerry and Carolyn are top notch Aussies (among the top rank of Homo Sapiens), but give great service.

You will not be disappointed doing business with them.

And… NO, they're not my Aunt and Uncle!
