What movie remakes do you enjoy watching both versions of? For purposes of this poll, 'remake' is limited to same title and general setting, changing to a more contemporary time setting is allowed. This does not include re-use of plots in different settings, even if they're both very good, like the various Kurosawa ronin films transposed to Westerns. Here are some to pairs get started, nominate others if you enjoy both of them: Cape Fear 1962/1991 Cat People 1942/1982 Dawn of the Dead 1978/2004 The Fly 1958/1986 Godzilla 1954/1984 King Kong 1933/2005 The Lost World 1925/1960 The Maltese Falcon 1931/1941 Oceans Eleven 1960/2001 Scarface 1932/1983 A Star is Born 1954/2018 |

The 1954 and 1995 versions of Sabrina are both enjoyable. Not sure what to think about Disney bringing out live versions of their cartoons, like Beauty and the Beast, Grelber |

I honestly cannot think of any remake that is as good as the original, sorry! |

Herkybird, most folks think the 1941 Maltese Falcon is better than the original, but I don't blame you for preferring the 1931 version, it certainly has its strong points! : 3 Irwin Allen did a bang-up job on The Lost World, but the 1925 one is stunning. n.b. there's no requirement to like both versions equally, as long as you enjoy both to some degree. |

I misread the title. Last of the Mohicans, but I never saw the "original". |

The Alamo. Both the hokey John Wayne version and the later Billy Bob Thornton version. |

Beau Geste (1926, 1939, 1966, 1982) Four Feathers (1921,1929,1939,1978,2002) All Quiet on the Western Front (1930,1979,2022) Red Badge of Courage (1951,1974) Magnificent Seven (western) (1960,2016) El Dorado/Rio Bravo (1959,1966) Almost the same plot with a few different tweeks between them. |

Henry V (1944/1989) I prefer Branagh's version by a wide margin, but will still watch Olivier from time to time for the colour and the pageantry. |

Agree about Henry V. Olivier was being a Shakespearean actor. Branagh was dirty and grubby and fighting a war. |

Hamlet (any version) / The Lion King. |

The better remake of Godzilla is Godzilla Minus One. Absolutely superb, and should have been nominated for Best Picture. |

G-1 is a reboot, not a remake, quite different than the original — but the best G movie so far! |

Actually, Wikipedia lists four movies based on The Maltese Falcon, the Bogart version being third. link And along with Rio Bravo and El Dorado there should be Rio Lobo. Me? Always the Bogart Falcon. I enjoy both Rio Bravo and El Dorado, but am more often inclined to watch El Dorado. |

The Italian Job 1969/2003 Kinda hard to beat Charlize Theron in the remake! +1 For True Grit – Jeff Bridges did a great job as Cogburn – "Fill your hand you son of a …." |

1941 is the only actual remake of Maltese Falcon. Satan Met a Lady is an entertaining comedic knock-off. The Black Bird is a spoof. Theoretically, the question is for movies with the same title and characters without diving into the wide wide world of re-used plots. |
