It is September 11th…..1777, and now late in the day, the American Continental Army has lost the Battle of Brandywine.

There remains an intact Division, Nathanael Greene's Virginians who might reposition quick/y enough, to hold open an avenue of escape for Gen. Washington to save his defeated and retreating troops.

The stage is set for this small but important action, that also makes for an accessible-size wargame scenario too.

Our Big Muddy game group is doing some outreach in the next few months, with a local college history course and professor (and avid game member himself) who is offering extra credit to any students attending our upcoming event(s).

It's now time to get the game on!

My contribution to next month's activities is this 15mm AWI scenario inspired by Green's rearguard action at Brandywine.

This past weekend we got in a first run of the scenario as the needed playtest before the main event. It all worked well "out of the box", and so we're primed, locked, and loaded now for this September, and hoping to convey a little history then, along with some gaming fun with some young folks that might attend.

Pics from the game -

Primary history for the game's design came from Michael C. Harris' book on the battle.

Fly, this is great and will be a great addition to the history class outreach project.
