One of the comments calls it an Akula, and it certainly looks like one in the photo. Copied design?

What I find interesting is Thailand noticing Cambodia and US relations evolving and then it buys Chinese engines. The article makes a couple of good points about possible strategic repositioning without making sweeping statements.

Ignore the photo at the link, its not what is being built. The actual sub is an S26T and will look like this
