Just learned from my local American Legion post's newsletter that: Thursday, August 14 is "Navajo Code Talkers Day" which honors the Native American code talkers, both WW1 and WW2. Saturday, August 16 is "National Airborne Day" which honors the legacy and bravery of US Army paratroopers from WW2 through today. Friday, August 29 is "US Marine Corps Reserve Birthday" (created in 1916). Jim (who jumped out of perfectively good airplanes when he was in the US Army) |

Funny. Choctaws were the first code talkers and were utilized in both wars as well. Navajos must have a great PR department. |

I only get interested when someone closes the banks. ColCampbell, when I switched from the ANG to the regular Army, I told them at Fort Campbell that all my training had been never to leave the aircraft until it was parked on the runway and someone had turned off the engines. That said, various persons in Maintenance have assured me that there is no such thing as a perfectly good aircraft. |
