"he author of this book, Christian DeJohn, recently wrote our club president to ask if we wanted to review this book. It's a little unusual for us to get review samples through this particular method but, since this is a book about tanks, we gladly agreed to review it. I was not aware, at the time we agreed to do the review, that the book had generated some controversy since its publication.

Out of respect for that controversy, for the length of this book, and for the fact that we tank nerds love to debate tank quality, I decided that we needed to do a bit more than a normal review. What follows is not fundamentally different from our normal book reviews, but it is much more in depth. I hope you, our members, will understand why once you have read the review…"

Clickbait. Clickbait. Clickbait.
The link is a summary of each chapter in the book outlining the books flawed arguments.
The only "scandal" that I can see is the book itself.

Agreed – just looking at the title which is misleading itself!

Don't confuse the review for the book. The review is pretty thorough.

I thought it a very useful review – always nice to see different information and perspectives – shakes the dust off the tree of shibboleths.

There are some interesting threads on Shermans, white phosphorus rounds, comparative performance, blah, blah:

It's about a book … not a clickbait … you can like it or not…

I did not click onto the article. My research conducted at the Quartermaster school in 1980 showed that it was an early to mid-war strategic logistics decision. The old shipping puzzle concerning the number of Sherman Hulls on a ship without wasted space.
In regards to the main gun, the 75mm was fine versus Panzer lll and earlier 1941 era German chassis. As the Germans up-armored, the Americans up-gunned.
No scandal.
I decided that staying with gas fuel as long as they die, was as much of an issue as the gun.
