You were asked – TMP link I have some Gundam and thought it would be cool to play a game with them. I know there are a lot of options. What are some of the TMPers favorites? 31% said "BattleTech" 13% said "Battletech: Alpha Strike" 5% [TIE] said "Dirtside II" OR "Wings of Glory (variant)" |

Battletech was a great seller for me in the 1980s. Now they are hard to get from a distributor. |

I have just discovered the Battletech rules, lore, and miniatures. What a great setting and set of rules. I don't know how I missed them all of these years. When compared to current pricing of Games Workshop items, Battletech is an amazingly fun alternative. |

While Battletech is the gateway drug of all combined arms mecha games, your list is missing some very, very good alternatives: -Wiley Games Battlesuit Alpha -Horizon Wars (and the soon to be re-released version of it, Hardwar) -Gruntz 15mm -Polyversal -Heavy Gear Blitz -the soon to be released MAC Attack (what Alpha Strike should/could have been) -and a up and coming popular rival with its own minis line… Death Ray Design's Steel Rift There are several others as well, these are just the ones I've read and played, all good in their own way. |

For "design your own" games, Battlesuit Alpha, Gruntz, MAC Attack, Steel Rift, Polyversal, Horizon wars, all offer a mini agnostic formula to stat your own combined arms mech forces. BT and AS do not offer that. Time Portal, I've no problem at all getting BT or AS figures or the game; its readily available at all my local games stores, as well as Amazon. The newest line of figures is top notch quality. |

I am a store but my distributor no longer Carrie's Catylst Games. Though they still carry Iron Wind metal Mechs for a while. Catylst just bought them too. |

Not on the poll, but… CAV: Strike Operations is a great set of squad-based, combined arms mech rules. They have an extensive minis line with an engineered aesthetic that I always liked a lot more than many of the BT minis. |

I looked at MAC based in the comments here. I wasn't thrilled with worrying about heat for each mechanism and some other micro focused other stuff. Big Battle games ficus on the group and not as much the individual. Alpha Strike gets that mostly right. Although I am still looking for a big battle combined arms set. MAC seems to sorta be a match with Miley's Battle Suit Alpha which I like a lot. Thanks. John |
