I have been doing FIW games for years.
At Historicon flea market, a friend scored one of his patented deals. At the bottom of the box (!) were about 40 assorted Grenzers, Pandours, Croats, Coureurs de Bois, etc. My tentative identification. 🤷
He gave them to Jim.
It occurs to me that I have some loose Prussians/Hessians. I'm painting SYW "Spanish" using FIW French. (Austrians?)
I have some loose Freikorps Hussars, and generic light dragoons.

I can always use my TSATF FWI system. But I'm wondering if there are any simple rules for Prussian Austrian border skirmishes and atrocities.
10 figure "units", a fun bloodthirsty game for 6 or 8 players with non compatible agendas.
Heck, I can even throw in Spanish Mexican militia and Pirates. RSM has cheap but nice Turkish border Badmashes.

I was about to stipulate "No Umlauts", but what the heck. The Historical Accuracy Police have been shown the door Chez OFM before.

eh…"Sharpes Rifles" comes to mind, maybe a modded "Rebels and Patriots"?

"Rebels and Patriots" would work

I'll second Rebels and Patriots. It uses the Osprey "Lion Rampant" engine with tweaks but is able to easily be modded. For example, in our games we often have 6+ players so we always introduce a "double move" option. That way players can realistically reinforce each other. Players can easily handle 6 or 8 units.

To "stretch" your figures you can use 2 hits = 1 mini. I do this with 6mm zulus. Mark a stand as hit, a second hit kills it.

A TSATF variant is "The Sword and the Pandour" by Wes Rogers. Uses 20-figure units but could be "downsized" to 10-figure units.

I have a 4-page nicely printed copy, but I don't recall from where I procured it.

Give Green Jackets a try, John. They're a free download at link and give a quick, fun game. Some people like to ignore the card bidding for initiative and just roll for it, but it can add some interest in a multiplayer game. I use it for Napoleonic and mid-C18 games. Suggestion- rate the German rifles as equal to the Baker, as they were.

I'll "third" Rebels and Patriots.

I'll have to check out Rebels and Patriots. 👍

Muskets and Tomahawks is excellent. Units are 6 to 12 figures.

DeRuyter01 Aug 2025 9:25 a.m. PST

Sharp Practice fits the bill. Groups of 8 for regulars and 10 for formed militia.

At conventions the last few years in the Southern US, the muskets and Tomahawks system have been frequently played.

My $0.02 USD WRT Muskets and Tomahawks: the 2nd Edition rule changes were mostly worthwhile, but the changes to the card play/command token system IMO made the game a little less "friendly" to multiplayer games.

That being said, I did play in a game at last year's SYW Con that used the 2nd Edition rules, but reverted back to the 1st Edition card system, and it worked fine.

As soon as you said "card play/command token", that was an immediate NOPE! from me. 🤷
Sorry, but I find that such things detract from play.
