More markers now that Chain of Command v2 has inspired me to upgrade. These are for AFVs this time. Nothing particularly out of the ordinary, just an attempt to have things blend in more with the table and yet still serve their function. A longer post with more pictures here: link

Some good ideas there! I notice the red jerry cans have been given a wash to tone them down because there is a limit to how visible you want them to be. I had tried cotton wool tor running horses and dropped the idea when I didn't like the result. I will have to go back and try polyester cushion stuffing.

Suggestion..to mark a vehicle on overwatch, instead of a figure on the triangular base (or any shape of base), use a bit of blue tac on the bottom of the figure. Just press it onto a turret hatch when on overwatch and remove when not. That avoids the large base under the figure which I think is distracting, on the vehicle.

I hear you. One reason I have the triangle is that the firing arc is important when on overwatch, if anything I need to lose the figure from the marker and just have the triangle. I don't put it on the AFV, I don't like that, I prefer somewhere at ground level under the barrel (of course for some people having the figure there looks odd, so it's really just a matter of preference). The blue tac method would be an option if I didn't already have figures in hatches as a matter of course. Not sure there is an 'ideal' solution, but this is my current one.

I don't play Bolt Action but great looking models.. I only use markers for what an enemy unit can actually detect in battle.

In my system, units are always active and ready to react to threats. I don't use a marker for Overwatch as that is the default order. If an enemy unit is in the front 10-degree aspect of your gun, it is immediately engaged to shoot at. If not, it takes time/turns to get your gun on the target to shoot.

For buttoned-up vehicles, I use a small plastic red ring that fits around the top of the commander's hatch on 1/144 scale models. No marker means unbuttoned.

I have also glued a very thin, 5mm painted rare-earth magnet to the top of the hatch, so you can attach a painted steel BB to show it unbuttoned. It blends in very well.

For the board game counters, one side of the vehicle, the hatch, is green if unbuttoned, and the other side red if buttoned up.

For moving units, I use a movement marker showing how far a unit will move in a movement segment. No marker means static.

This is an older version:
