Greetings Fellow Gamers,
An apology to all out there, for me, getting this out rather late. It has been a hot, busy and hot summer so far. (Did I mention the heat?) Earlier in the month we held our 6th Annual Naval Wars/Wars in Woodstock. We had 40 gamers join us for a dozen of some the most epic games, put on by your favorite GMs. Thanks to all for coming and see you next year.
We also did our first ever Military History Book Sale. We ran the event over last weekend, and raised $750 USD to cover our operating expenses.
It was very successful and we will be doing this again in the fall, with a more social twist to the event. Stay tuned. In the interim if you missed the sale, please reach out to me for an appointment. I still have over 1,000 books for sale.
Upcoming events include Gencon, we have a great slate of GMs running close to two dozen games at the con. Of course Autumn Wars/War Chest is open for Badge registration and event submission. Games are coming in quickly, so if you want to showcase your efforts do so quickly. Do not forget the War Chest aspect of the show, This year we will be dedicating times cleared of games to allow better participation.
We continue to march on with our partnership with "The Chicagoland's Veteran Campus". A combined collection of military history museums about to make it's debut. We will be working with them on future game days and other events.
Finally, in this issue is the latest update on the upcoming Board elections. All the current members are the nominees for their future terms. Remember only HMGS-Midwest members can vote. If you bought a Badge for Little Wars (not a shoppers badge however) you also purchased a membership. If you missed Little Wars you can still get a membership via the Chedder up link, later in the newsletter. This will still entitle you to all the other HMGS-Midwest events throughout the year.
Lastly all of our regular features have returned and updated. Including a future HMGS-Midwest game night at Grognard's Algonquin store.
That is all for now, see you around the gaming table.
Kevin
