Hi everyone, I'm looking for the most common livery colours for Italian states around the late 15th/early 16th Century. I believe both Florence and Milan were white and red, but I'd like to find combinations for the others (preferably NOT white and red!). Equally importantly, would these colours have been used to identify troops in battle – and hopefully distinguish them from the enemy – or is that pushing it a bit too far? Thanks, in advance. |

There's always the Popes gold and blue, mate. link may also give you a few clues as well. |

My very limited research indicated a lot of red and white, notably Venice and Florence with some others I don't remember. |

Thanks, you two. And well done, Stoppage for taking the trouble to type all those out; if nothing else, a very useful fall-back position – cheers!!! |
