True BM, but the Jewish people do have a distinct family tree, separate from all other traditional Middle Eastern peoples (and literally every one else on the planet). Even European and Americans of Jewish descent can trace a DNA profile back to the earliest tribes of the Jewish Middle East.

So, you are correct, his family may have long since deviated away from a linear Jewish family tree, but there could have been significant ties to the Jewish people, nonetheless.

Just because his grandparents were Jews living in Spain doesn't mean he wasn't born in Italy.

But there is a lot of confusion about his origins, probably because he lied about who he was and where he was from, and probably for good reasons not related to Jewishness.

Interesting, but I'm still not a fan.
