I've been looking around for anyone's bang-up effort at mounting and arranging 3mm ACW strip minis into multi-regimental, Brigade stands – so as little dioramas of an Infantry Brigade deployed in the field (as a single movement stand that's mounting 4-5 Rgt.s each, maybe w/officers, skirmishers)….. Does anyone have pics they might show or know of, or links they could send my way here? |

Not what you asked for, but if you google 6mm Grande Armee you'll see loads of lovely pics of 6mm Napoleonic troops mounted on 3x3" stands for that rule set. Like this:

That looks spectacular! Here's the closest I've found using 3mm figure strips, Napoleonic also, submitted for the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge -
More views of these via the blog link - link Just think these multi-battalion/regimental-like stands, showing units in different formations (some lines could be wheeling/ragged), might look great for the ACW! This set almost look like Zouaves from viewing distance (actually British line) -
From Curt, the presenter above, word on how he streamlined the painting task - In this scale I only paint the front of the front rank, the rear of the rear rank and the top of their heads and shoulders. Early on, I discovered that after painting every figure, the interior facing detail is completely lost once the strips of figures are based up. A complete waste of time and effort. So now I just paint the perimeter of the formations and I find that you can't tell the difference between the 'all-figure-detail' bases and those which are more minimalist. |
