Having a bit of a return to this period and re-trying Beneath the Lilly Banners. We tried them soem years ago when they first came out and couldnt get on with them. But as they are designed for the period and have interesting mechanisms chum Chris decided he had to make them work for us. First up is Killiekrankie, game report, lots of photos and my thoughts here: link

The table display is lovely, but the number of units/figures seems short for the battle and the playing area small. These rules must allow for very small units and battles! (I have hiked thru the pass of Killiecrankie and read somewhat of the battle there.) That said, beautiful figures and flags! |

Evocative Banners! I think this game would draw interest and players wherever it went (looks spectacular but accessible all at the same time). |

Beautiful game. Lovely figures..I like how you depict the various government units. Those flags look like the ones from Barry (I used them as well). Killiecrankie is a fun scenario for a wargame. I refought it in 6mm using Tercios rules: link |

Cheers Guys. Piper 909 the unit sizes are for Beneath the Lilly Banners and as movement is very restricted a small table is all thats required. We have tried paying the rules on big tables but nobody got to fight. |

Thanks for the followup, RogerC. That explains things! |

These rules must allow for very small units and battles! Killiekrankie was a small battle. ~4000 Government troops, and ~3000 Jacobites. |
