The U.S. Army has asked for a big boost to its Patriot air defense stockpile in the 2026 budget request, as the service drives to increase its "magazine depth" for various munitions… Defense One: link |

Well with the "new" face of war … with missiles and rockets being everywhere, plus still many aircraft. I'd say increasing the production of Patriots, would be a very good move. With Putin firing more and missiles. Plus Iran[don't trust them, ever], Yemen, etc. having a predilection for firing missiles. Not to mention the Chicom threat in the PTO. More Patriots should be a top priority … |

As long as we keep them at home in our arsenal and not ship them elsewhere. |

Why? Patriots are defensive weapons. |

Yeah. I'm not sure a Patriot near my house protects me. The only missiles that can reach me here can't be stopped by Patriots. They need to protect our folks overseas. Having fewer of our folks overseas where they need Patriots is a separate discussion. But I was watching the Ward Carrol episode on the A-10 the other day (highly recommended) and the shrinking size of our military is a little concerning. We have used up a lot of missiles recently, considering we are not "at war", but I am surprised the supply was so thin. It prompts me to worry that if there is a major war the US would be awesome for a month and then looking for more missiles between the sofa cushions. Watch the Ward Carrol episode. |

Our lackadaisical attitude towards weapons procurement and stockpiles is because our "leaders" don't acknowledge that we have been at war with Communist China for the last several decades. To quote Olivia Newton-John "Better shape up!" |

Patriots are defensive weapons. Very much so they intercept incoming. As we know … They are not used on ground targets. And with the current high use of missiles, rockets, etc. they seem to need to be present on the battlefield in larger numbers than ever before. They need to protect our folks overseas Yes with current paradigm Patriots and other ADA systems seem to need to be everywhere. And not just with US forces but forces friendly to us. I've said it before … the last admin did not make the US Military a priority. Along with their policies forced on the Military only weakened them, etc. and the shrinking size of our military is a little concerning. $ is available to have all the Patriots, etc. the US and some of our friends could use/buy. So much $ was wasted on so many useless, stupid, etc. projects, items, people, etc. defense of the homeland was not a priority. |
