SWS halftracks from the rear. These are the Roco 1/87 scale model that's about 50 years old. I have made a number of conversions and you can see some of them here.

they look good. I agree with you about painted stuff; it gives more realism to a unit. I don't know about shields for the MG. Weren't they able to be used for AA which a shield would inhibit?

KarlBergman05 Jul 2025 10:23 a.m. PST

In all of the versions I have seen the forward MG was mounted with a shield and was primarily used for anti-personal work. I have also seen an option to mount another MG at the rear of the half-track that was on what looks like it could be an anti-aircraft mount.

Korsun0 the front was usually for anti-personnel and the rear MG was for AA use, but of course you shoot what you have on the targets you got.

KarlBergman you are correct.

Thanks for reading.

The dollar stores provide seasonal buildings and over the last couple years I have picked up several that were from the spring and summer collection.

This tiki bar is one of them and I got several. I am building the Kiss Kiss Club from the James Bond movie Thunderball and this will likely bet the entrance part of the club.

Re: your comment on dremel tools in the second link, I'm still using the dremel tool I bought around 45 years ago. I guess using it sporadically and with no heavy duty use has help preserve it. Not like a friend who ruined his using it to sharpen his mower blade.

gamertom, yes my other one is like that, it's about 45 years old. I got the new one to use on the Dremel drill press and flex tool but did not like either of those so I got rid of them and kept the Dremel tool.
I still use both of them, but not frequently. Mostly just drilling little holes in plastic or resin.

RE Dremel,
I'm on my second Dremel. My main use is with a Sanding barrel trimming down the underside of metal bases on figures.

I save the shavings to use as filler (with Super Glue) on conversions. After the pieces are glued, I use an Exacto to add the shavings and then more glue to seal.

A few passes with a file and all is good.
