Prompted by the new restored version of the imaginatively entitled Quatermass2, which of the three Quatermass films do you think is the best? Just the films, not the TV series that both predated and postdated them.

The Pit (released here in the US as "5 Million Years To Earth").

What great SF should be--mind opening to new perspectives and possibilities.

The line that has never left me since I first saw it in the 60's: "As much as anyone now, WE are the Martians!"

20th, well Pit is going to win. The interesting question is what comes in second.

Prepoll discussions are often a wealth of finding out additional information and suggestions on the topic at hand.

For anyone who likes anything Quatermass, trust me, you will enjoy The Stone Tape. Kneale hit it out of the park.

Hey miniMo – I'm only pulling your leg.

Nigel Kneale is one of the forgotten heroes of British SF/F drama -Stone Tape may be his greatest creation, it's a term that has really entered the mainstream of popular culture.

And, when it next turns up on Radio4Extra, try the 2018 radio adaptation of 'The Road'. Powerful stuff – sadly I've never seen the TV version frown

"The Pit" going away although I liked the one where the astronaut turned into a monster at Westminster Abbey.

Since the point is well taken that it's really going to be what the second most popular of the films is, I'll start by saying the first, "The Creeping Unknown" (or, at least as I know it from the Stateside release).
