…Gudkov is one of at least 10 Russian major generals or lieutenant generals to have been killed in the war so far. Some of the attacks appear carefully planned by Ukraine, though on the evidence so far the hit on Gudkov looks opportunistic…

Que "Another one Bites the Dust" or "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" … 🎶🎵

I also read in the media today the POTUS has spoken to Putin for an hour or two. Nothing changed … Putin wants to continue the war. Regardless of his high losses. The POTUS may have to up the sanctions, etc.

Also, both Ukraine and the IDF need more ADA/AAA. But there may be a production problem as not enough are being made and as fast as those nations need plus the US needs many in their inventory.

Both Iran and Putin just seem to want to continue the killing and/or being killed.

And Putin cares…how much?

The POTUS may have to up the sanctions, etc.

The problem with "upping the sanctions" is that the sanctions always start out too minimal to actually do anything. The target copes.
Then, they are increased incrementally, but never enough to make any incremental difference.
We've seen that movie before. It's the standard song and dance of all State Departments, Foreign Secretaries, Speakers to Barbarians, etc.
Let's not call it the "Deep State". That's too sinister, and it makes them sound … sinister. They actually believe that they're being useful. Empirically speaking, they're not.

So, "up the sanctions". 🤷 Just don't pretend they're actually doing anything.

Cutting arms shipments to the Ukraine *may* not be the way to proceed either.

Give Ukraine a submarine, and let them sink the shadow fleet of tankers? wink

And Putin cares…how much?
Well it is pretty clear at this point Putin and the Ayatollah could care less.

So, "up the sanctions". 🤷 Just don't pretend they're actually doing anything.
Making sanctions stricter may have some affect. Sending another message, to remind them what cards we can ply. But it seems it is part of the Chess Game that is being play geopolitically with Putin and even maybe Iran. At this point short of going to war … the options are limited. And No body wants to go to a shooting sustained war anywhere. Let alone with "I'll use Nukes" Putin.

Cutting arms shipments to the Ukraine *may* not be the way to proceed either.
Old news that probably won't happen as the situation is fluid. I.e. it changed … The rub is again the US can't produce enough ADA/AAA systems fast enough to support Ukraine and the IDFs needs and our own.

I know Oz is far, far, away, and their media as biased as some in the US. Pay attention 👉 … there is a war going on … And again … none of these conflicts are over … like so many wars this will take time. Especially with Putin not caring how many people on both sides die.

The Ayatollah is pretty much the same. And again, as we see Hamas is going to go down being martyrs. As they are a death cult like Iran's theocratic leaders. I think Hamas may know they my never return to Gaza nor an of the denizens who lived there. It should be turned into modern version of Carthage.

The IDF can kill off the Ayatollah, his admin, IRGC leaders, etc. as well as continuing to clean up Hamas, etc. Seems these islamists only understand it is "their version of victory" or death.☠ Again I support the later … They may be surprised to find out Paradise in a lot hotter than they may have thought.

Ah, the Forever War, Ralph.

I know the old, no longing fighting (if they ever did) Hawks love this concept. This is real, BTW, & not some comic book. Deleted by Moderator

US can't produce enough ADA/AAA systems

A number of Pentagon sources as well as a significant number of Republican Congressman disagree. This is the third time the Defense Secretary has done this and in the previous two, has be overruled by the White House. I would expect a third reversal soon.

I know defenestration is a fine Slavic tradition but this is simply getting out of hand.

Personal logo ochoin Supporting Member of TMP In the TMP Dawghouse04 Jul 2025 3:02 p.m. PST

McK – do you think defenestration could become an Olympic sport? I know it would be quite the spectatator event.

High scores from the East German and Russian judges.

Personal logo McKinstry Supporting Member of TMP Fezian04 Jul 2025 4:00 p.m. PST

Yeah but there is always a 6.3 from the Bulgarian judge.

Can they make bedazzled leotards look like a frumpy business suit for the 23 meter defenestration event?

I'm going out on a limb here but I predict Russia will sweep the event even if the Bulgarian judge ends up a reluctant participant.

Well I will continue to watch the news to see any updates. Yes things change rapidly now … Regardless … it appears more ADA/AAA needs to be deployed I'd think in both conflicts.

McK & John.

There's a whole raft of issues with getting this sport accredited.

For example – type of window: sliding, dormer, louvre, bay etc

And please don't start me with the various side walks that could be used! I lean to cobbled but that's pretty outre, I know.

I think the IDC (International Defenestration Council) needs to get involved and set parameters. For example, can you be allowed to grease the victim to allow easier egress?

I would think a nod to the sports' spiritual basis would require whatever is used in the Soviet/Stalinist style apartment block. Something that I am certain combines despair with concrete and an overpowering air of failure.

Quite tasteful I would think plus an homage to those clever Bohemians in Hradcany Castle in 1419.

Agreed. I suggest both a low and high defenestration event.

can you be allowed to grease the victim to allow easier egress?

I would think no as that would involve performance enhancing lubricants (PEL's).

Publicly calling for the DH of someone is not a gentlemanly thing to do. One might go far as to send a [!] to Dear Editor. That is what I did when a nitwit omodhaun called me a liar. Naming no names. I got no satisfaction, by the way. So I Stifled the foul miscreant.
In your humble correspondent's opinion, being called a liar is far more egregious than what you have accused your subject of. In fact, your reply was far worse than what you accused him of.

John you treat a gentleman as a gentleman, when they respond as such. When people insult and belittle your intelligence, education, military service, ability to communicate and cognitive abilities, they are no longer gentlemen. Especially when they have been incorrect over and over again. I know you on TMP well enough to know, you would not put up with it.

People who resort to the above, unless they were insulted personally to begin with, suffer from severe narcissistic tendencies.

If a person wants to discuss, then do so, but don't resort to very personal insults. (Unless of course, it is in response to very personal insults). What was written about Legion was very personal insults and it is not the first time he was insulted in that manor. In previous posts belittling even his military service! Legion and others, do not deserve that. He and I have been Dawghoused for much, much less.

Thanks John for your support or whatever it was ? Again I said … I have no power to enforce that … Once again he was saying things to and about me that would get me DH'd if I said anything like that.

Which if this happened now and then … that would be one thing. But he makes it a habit being demeaning, divisive, insulting, etc. So like anyone else I get tired of his 💩. If he can't curb his impulses to name call, saying I'm stupid, etc. He should grow up a bit. I try to play fair, and try to laugh things off with jokes, etc. But IMO he is making his drivel a habit. I can't do that why should he … or anyone else … ?

Oh wait … based on dealing with your predilections, you will be less than positive, etc. about most I say. As you so very often are. BTW some have to have noticed you have a tendency to be a bit argumentative with many here. But we normally ignore it …

If Bill does not comment on it … well … we write it off, as the CD of having to deal with your "quirky" habits, etc. Like Sheldon on Big Bang …

And a number of us find Deleted by Moderator's "quirks" it seems much more offensive, annoying then you ! So I know you can try harder …

Military aid has been suspended to The Ukraine for "reasons".

Evidently, the reasond don't apply to Israel which is still getting a flood of weapons, no questions asked.

Double standards? Oh, well, this has made Putin terribly happy so it's not all bad….

Can we please put aside our personal hissy fits, and get back to the topic of this thread? The comedy of a "former" KGB nogoodnik killing rivals by defenestration, as many times as needed?
ISIS knows that when you yeet perverts off a roof, you need to do it as many times as necessary. 😱

I "usually" (🙄) laugh off "personal attacks" (>>cough cough<<) by replying in Latin (Google is your friend) and showing my intellectual superiority.
But when a nincompoop omodhaun scalawag calls me a liar… I STIFLE the son of a beech!
Harrumph!

John … I didn't say you lied ? I was kind of jerking your chain, etc. E.g. "like Sheldon on Big Bang"[I love that show, watching it now !!!🌌🪐⭐] … But no doubt I think you can find me annoying at times as I you … Yes? So, we have a little food fight 🥚🍔🍕🌭🍗🍩🍪🧁 in the cafeteria. Then go off to whatever classes we don't want to be late for … 'nuff said !

I wonder what the production cost is today, compared to those that were warehoused and used? I do understand this correctly, all NEW production lines, correct?
