I have 25mm MINIFIG Gurkhas from their british Indian Colonial line. What hobby paint color do you recommend for their dark green uniforms? |

Decades ago, I painted my Ral Partha 25mm Gurkhas in the venerable Humbrol Rifle Green. Not sure if Humbrols are still made. Vallejo or Reaper or Army Painter likely have an equivalent. |

Just about any dark green will do. Remember, before modern dyes, green color was a combination of blue and yellow dyes. This would fade from sun and weather. Personally I recommend either Americana Hauser Dark Green or Delta Ceramcoat Dark Foliage Green. Either will give suitable dark green. Jim |

Agreed. You want the green to be visible, not a "navy green" that is mainly black. Just a good solid dark green. Not too yellow. Not too drab. Those craft paints noted above by the Colonel are solid choices. |

I looked at my notes for when I painted up a bunch of Royal Irish Constabulary and "Black and Tans" in the post-WWI era, and they wore rifle green like the Gurkhas. I used a wide range of colors you might find of use: My fave was Reaper's Elven Green highlighted with Reaper's Kilt Green. Others used for a base coat: DecoArt's Dark Green Vallejo's German Dark Green (next best); Military Green; Luftwaffe Camouflage Green Reaper's Black-Green Americana's Hauser Dark Green and Reaper's Ivy Green washed with black is also good. So many to choose from! |
