I think thrush in the mouth would warrant medical treatment.
Probably a course of anti-biotics.

I had a mate round for a 2nd Punic War game last month and cooked a load of stuff from Apicus. Was surprised how good it was, lots of honey and vinegar with ground coriander and cumin and fish sauce!
