Picking up where I left off covering my first-ever refight of the lesser-known and smaller-scale Second Afghan War battle of Kam Dakka, originally fought on April 22, 1879…
With Captain Creagh leading his 2 Companies of the Mhairwara Battalion (20 figures total) from the outskirts of Kam Dakka village towards the nearby cemetery on the South bank of the Kabul River as an attacking force of 6 Mohmand clans (20 figures each = 120 figs total) fords the river to the East:
TURN 1
Creagh's plan is to turn the cemetery into a strong defensive position from which to withstand the coming fight in which he and his men will be heavily outnumbered…
One unit of Mohmands remains in place on the North bank of the river to provide fire support for the coming attack…
By the end of Turn 4, five of the six Mohmand clans have crossed or are in the process of crossing Kabul River (all of them using the "Human Bridge" method which allows full movement speed but carries a risk of 1 or 2 figures per group of 6 or less being lost to drowning in the process) though the lead unit has lost its only Leader to British fire… while Capt. Creagh and his entire detachment have reached the relative safety of the cemetery and its solid rock walls…
