Hi,
I already have a desert terrain cloth that I use but it seems that the The Sudan region, being high in iron, presented a much more red appearance than the generic "builders' sand" I have.
Does anyone know of a manufacturer that could supply what I want or have any techniques for achieving a better Sudan Desert colour on my cloth?

Regards,

Jae

In my case it bought a piece of ten felt.

On the tan side I used light brown, some white, and lighter tan spray paint.

The other side was mainly painted green with a good mix of shade as well as some brown.

My suggestion to you is get a can of reddish spray paint and spray from a distance. My cloth was placed on newspaper on my garage floor and I sprayed while standing up with a couple of dips down for a bolder coat.

Cigar Box has two mats that would work for the Sudan. The first is the Classic Desert and the second is called New Desert, which has a bit more reddish brown on it.

A light dusting with a spray can of red oxide, as the good colonel suggests, should work well.

I've gotten good results with rust-colored primer, sprayed from a distance as Col Durnford suggests.
