Just on Newsmax, there are 1000 reenactors engaged in a reenactment of the AWI. It looks like the Brits just landed at Boston Harbor. AFAIK it looks pretty accurate. I was not there during the AWI, so… old fart

Hope they show more of it … really looks like something I know I would enjoy watching. And probably a number of others here. E.g. John OFM comes to mind … And I know there are a number of others on TMP that this is their era !

Go Yanks !!!

It might be Canada beating us to the punch.

Bloody hot day to be in wool. The older you are, the worse it is. 🙂

18th Century clothing is tje one thing I won't ever understand, wearing a undershirt, shirt, waste coat, coat and hat in 90 degree weather

I am assuming Kate at 18th Century Horsemanship is posting live there

I think part of the 18th century undershirt thing regardless of weather was so you didn't have to wash your coat very often (if at all) – the dye tech was not great so washing your red jacket might get you a pink one

Also remember that unlike our modern reenactors who wear a heavier wool, the "wool" of the 18th century and 19th Century uniforms were a lighter weight, (more like suit wool than the almost heavy coat wool we have today)…

If only Chris the Redcoat had a live feed we could see it from the British side

British took the hill

Again?!? Dang it, every year I think, "This time we got ‘em!" But nope…
It's like they're following a script or something.

Murphy beat me to to it. When HBO's John Adams miniseries was made they did a great behind-the-scenes video on the clothing. The costume department worked with historians and curators and had access to surviving garments, so they were able to recreate extremely accurate reproductions. Everyone (especially the actors) remarked on how thin and light the wool fabric was.

@ Parzival, careful, if the British don't take the hill maybe later they don't lose the war.

Not sure a rebroadcast or a new reenactment, Kate has up a video that says live

14Bore22 Jun 2025 10:08 a.m. PST

Think this is live

Yes it was live, the Lobsters landed at Boston Harbor and later the Battle of Bunker Hill was reenacted, IIRC. Newsmax thru out the day had a reporter on scene. Talking to the "troops" on both sides. Showing the camps, cannons, etc. Looked like it was very good event. Would have liked to have been there.
