At first it looks like a good pack with a mixture of metal and plastic figures with exchangeable heads, flag sheets, artillery and shoulder accoutrements to make 72 British and Portuguese infantry with a command pack. link But why, oh why, would you prominently display the fact you have the wrong cavalry? The "Union Brigade" wasn't composed until the the Hundred Days Campaign, and the Scots Grey belgic shakos are just wrong. These are the Union Brigade at Waterloo: 1st (Royal) Regiment of Dragoons 2nd Regiment of Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys) 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons The only regiment of these in the Peninsular were 1st (Royal) Regiment of Dragoons with their horse-hair plums but these were not the typical British cavalry in Iberia, most of which wore French-style shakos or the fur hats with side-cloths. The 1st Dragoons were only in one battle, Fuentes de Onoro, and then the retreat to the Lines. I've heard some people say, 'it doesn't matter". Then why advertise them as "Peninsular"? They have a "Waterloo" pack. They surely belong there. Arrrgh! Is there anyone else, seriously up for spending hours painting figures for a campaign they weren't present at? Maybe putting on a game and having your mates snigger? I have my doubts. |

Does the starter set cavalry come with the variety of headgear that the Union Cavalry box does? Supposedly, headgear appropriate for the Peninsula is provided in the cavalry box. |

79thPA Good question. Yes, there are 8 Plastic and four metal "British Union Brigade heavy cavalry" with straight swords. One of the headgear options for the 8 plastic troopers is the bicorn and that was worn in the Peninsula by heavy cavalry. So these figures can be used. One of the metal figures has a Scots Grey shako and that can't. So, it's mainly a case of incorrect labelling. Which is a shame, because anyone attracted to a "starter army" may get confused, especially as the inside booklet incorrectly suggests that all three regiments were present and indeed illustrates the Scots Greys, which were not. Conversely, those more familiar with the subject who read the box labels are going to be put off buying it at all. |

Hello Cacadoress. Lorenzo from Warlord here. As you eventually noticed, the cavalry content of the box is indeed correct for the Peninsular War, as it gives you the options to make the models for the Dragoon regiments present in Spain. We do release a lot of products every year and sometimes our Studio is quite busy with many overlapping important new models to paint and to be photographed within a tight deadline… in this case, we simply did not have the time to paint a new unit, representing the other options from the same frame. I will remind my colleagues in the Studio department anyway, to see if it will be possible to paint a new unit in occasion of the next Army box reprint. Kind regards, Lorenzo Warlord Games Customer Service team |

LorenzoWarlordGame Hello Lorenzo "As you eventually noticed, the cavalry content of the box is indeed correct for the Peninsular War" Well, okay. But: The mounted metal officer with a telescope is wearing a sash and what could be a Belgic Shako – which is irremovable. That's okay, he would have to be a mounted Portuguese infantry officer. However, the mounted metal bugler has an irremovable Scots Gray fronted busby with no cover. He's unusable. |
