Happy Waterloo day.

Today is the two hundredth and tenth anniversary.

I have attached some pictures from my first refight. The lessons learned from this project were instrumental in improving techniques in modelling and photography.

Plancenoit church aflame is just amazing. Love the "mini-Hougoumont" also. Beef Wellington for dinner tonight (well that was my plan, but the word was that if I wanted that then I could cook it. As one who can barely do scrambled eggs (and I am serious)……maybe not

Thank you everyone for the kind comments.

The Hougoumont complex including woods etc in reality is massive.

I decided to use the area ‘footprint' to scale and then fit everything in.

This means the chateaux is over represented but my aim was to get the feel of the place whilst still retaining the look.

The model is scratch built from cardboard from Adkin's wonderful Companion.

Chicken Marengo sounds a good alternative!

Ney lad. I would get Grouchy if served a Bonaparte dish today. I would think I am being picked on. (get it? "Picked on"? Boom boom)

The Hgmt footprint is a very clever idea indeed. Great work and the right day to show it

"Nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won." Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington

Seriously, though, figures, models and photos are museum quality. Just outstanding!

Gone are the days when the world could deal with its monsters on the battlefield!

Amazing work! Thank you for sharing.

I spent today identifying Napoleonic units for a friend. Fun, but only Sweden and the Ottoman Turks to go. Then what will I do?

Have patience, Herky. Some monsters still can and will be dealt with by war--and some never could be. It's true we'll never have the spectacle again, though, and the civilian losses these days are tragically greater than in horse & musket warfare. Now it's as though we're doing the Siege of Saragossa over and over.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments.

As stated this project, was hugely influential in educating myself in the techniques that I now use for my projects.

A special thanks to the ever helpful Von W for his support on the Waterloo ‘what if ‘ thread.

Best wishes,

Chris
