With all the World Cup match ups underway there's time for some figure stuff. I managed to put together a Troops on Parade review of the #28mm Garibaldi Collection on the Utubes.

Around 550 figs from the (Award Winning, but I don't like to mention it) 😉 Mentana Game

A really interesting collection to put together, Gringo40s were the mainstay of the army with 12 of the 20 Battalions. I've then needed to go "off piste" for other units using Perry ACW and BIF for 6 and 2 Battalions respectively. There are also a smattering of Shako 64, with the Artillery and some of the named officers. The video explains it all.

There are a couple of shows Mentana hasn't been to, so it may see the light of day again. I have long term plans to add a Bourbon Army and do the Battle of Volturno which would also require at least doubling these. But that's a years away with other projects underway in front of it.

This part of a project is always the best for me, flopping it all out on the table, makes all the time and the effort worth it.

Wow. That is fantastic.

How do the Perry and Gringo 40 figures look next to each other?

Well that is an impressive force. Nicely done.

Gringo are a lot bigger and noticeable when next to each other so I kept them in separate units.

However in 4 or 5 public displays including Salute no one said anything, on the table you can't really tell

I do find it funny that people fret so over "how do xxx figs work with yyy figs?". I have always been a mix and match type of guy.

My current ACW armies have figs from Perry, Redoubt, 1st Corps, Old Glory, Crusader, Sash and Saber, Foundry, Hinchliffe, Connoisseur and Warlord.

Consistent basing ties all the odds and sods together.

It depends on how different they are, I think from the pics below that Gringo40s Cavalry and Perrys don't mix at all. Whilst people and horses are both different sizes irl that doesn't look right

These are the Infantry, Foundry, Perry, Gringo40s, again Gringo40s much bigger

Always a pleasure to see such a large and well painted force amassed on the tabletop. You should consider doing a painting tutorial to enlighten us less talented souls.

Cheers Colonel Verso, there a quite a few painting tutorials on the Yarkshire Gamer Utubes Channel
