A long time ago I picked up some very old models. They are for Starfleet Wars:

I originally picked them up at a flee market because they look really good. I recently pulled them out of storage, but I do not like the original Starfleet Wars rules.

Like I said, I really like the look of the models, but what other good spaceship combat rules would be perfect for these nice models?

I like Full Thrust, it's a oldie, but a goodie!
There's also Starmada, Firestorm Armada,
If you want really big battles, there's GOBS: PDF link

And there was one in the Hobby News headlines a week ago (or so), which I can't seem to find right now.

Found it: Battlefront Valkyrie

Since the Renegade Legion Leviathan let's design your own ships then make some stats for the Starfleet Wars models.

Agree that I didn't care much for the rules.

New models are available at

They have rules under the name of Galactic Knights. I suspect these are updates to the old Starfleet Wars but how much I don't know. The do have significant additions for the different fleets.

I had some of those! Full Thrust has my endorsement. They are very flexible rules.

Full Thrust.

Just to get it out of the way, Full Thrust fanboy.

How many and what's the largest?

I had a couple of super galactic dreadnoughts that I played as too slow to maneuver so were 'static' on the table. Other ships just swarmed around them.

I have a couple hundred of the Starfleet Wars minis I picked up over the years. I recently pulled them all out of storage and stripped them for repainting this summer. I agree the Star Fleet Wars rules are not great, but Full Thrust should work nicely. I have all 5 of the SuperGalactic Dreadnoughts and lots of other ships.

Great models back in the day. I have a bunch of the carnivore ships in a box somewhere. Mayb3 a few Terran ships too.
I think I will pull them out, and add them to my Downsizing Pile

Full Thrust is my favorite.
Stars and Lasers is pretty good too.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will try Full Thrust, and it just so happens that someone in my gaming club already has the rule book, which is good because it's not easy to find. However, the rule are now also available for free. In PDF format.

I am also told that the supplement book "More Thrust" is a good addition to the "Full Thrust" game.

Jeff,

This page has a good bit on Full Thrust and Starfleet Wars.
