I have a buddy whose passion is the big guns and is one of the Navy's remaining 16" gun experts. He has a special place in his heart for the WWI Navy railway guns. He has a 3D printed 1/32nd gun that he used original Navy drawings to recreate in Solidworks and then the STLs.

LostPict, do you have any pictures of the model? I'd love to see that! Also curious if he sells the STL. That would be a cool addition to my Great War collection.

I don't have pictures. He also does beautiful 3D renderings that I have tried to get him to sell. OBTW, the drawings he uses are at the National Archives or in some cases in bins of antique "junk" headed to the recycler. The Navy does not have sufficient space to store it's historical artifacts so most of it is gradually lost.

I really hope he can be convinced to sell them. It sounds like it's purely a labor of love, but there are a lot of fellow enthusiasts who would love to support that kind of work. Off the top of my head, I know quite a few scale modelers, toy soldier collectors, and Great War enthusiasts who would jump at these. Heck, he could sell them and donate proceeds to preservation and research if he wanted!
