I like the look of these double-hex bases (for/with linear war formations). They seem to mix well with the hex grid terrain, despite being a different basing color. Wonder what others think of the look, and especially with potential for more hex-based, 3D-board gaming [conversions]? Digging in Jonathan Freitag's linked blog here, he started this Samurai project way back in 2012! – with this dual-hex basing to play with the Command & Colors Samurai Battles game - link
