You were asked – TMP link

If you were trapped on a desert island and could play only one game (plenty of island native opponents). Which would it be?

And in the final round of voting:

27% said "Dungeons & Dragons"
22% said "The Sword and the Flame"
13% said "Traveller"
8% said "Ogre/GEV"
5% [TIE] said "chess" OR "Kingmaker"

Two RPGs and a game needing 4-6 players made the finals? Those must be really good native opponents. I can't do that well at home.

Where'd you say the island was?

I didn't think of it during nominations, but my actual vote would be for Go. Don't know how to play it yet, but stranded wuould be a good time to devote to learning.

There must have been great faith in the voters that many books and figures would have survived the shipwreck
They must have had the splendid Disney Swiss Family Robinson in mind. .
Do I also get an air conditioned hall with the 4-6 players?

You can learn how to play Go in five minutes. After that, you can spend the rest of your life learning how to play Go.

If we can end up on a desert island and have time to play games, rather than hunt, fish and pray there's no nasties in the water we drink (or measuring us up as a main meal), Robert, we can pick what games we have in our luggage. Or send the porter in our hotel out to buy something. evil grin

It would have to be an RPG, to keep your mind occupied. So D&D or Shadowdark.
