Having played the Chain of Command campaign Operation Martlet last year we held off following it with The Scottish Corridor to await the publication of Chain of Command v2.

With freshly printed copies in our hands we embarked on the campaign last week and the first full game report (fully v2 compliant!), is up on the blog. I've included reflections on the changes and new rules as we play. It's not a revolution, more an evolution and so far I like what I see.

You can find the game report here: Scottish Corridor Scenario 1

TP, looks fantastic!

Visiting your blog report (so many pics! – and I'm envious), was almost hoping I could scroll down your page and make them look like a stop-action movie.

The modelling on display here is nothing short of outstanding, though I never fail to be astounded by the granularity of your batreps!

Great game report I appreciate your highlighting of the V2 differences

Thanks. Interesting that you should say that, as I've often wondered about how I might video our games. In general, I almost never watch game videos. I've worked in the film industry for 25+ years, so my tolerance for low production values is non-existent.

I have trouble with the length of them (who has the time to watch them all?) and one of the things I notice from the stats from the blog is that the average time spent reading one of the game reports is about 10-12 minutes. That's much shorter than many video game reports. Not only that, the experience is self managed and I know from feedback that some read every single detail, while others speed read through the reports. Everyone follows at their own pace, rather than the pace set by a video. So I like to give as much detail as I can, but keep the narrative flowing along. Readers can choose how much they want to read and look at pictures and decide their own pace.

Thanks! In the light of the comment I wrote above, I try to give as much detail as I can so that those that want to follow closely can do so. The nice thing about a written report like this is, if you don't want that much detail you can speed read and scroll quickly to move ahead. I wrote a blog post about how I put them together if you're interested, you can find it here How I Write a Game Report

I really liked your game report and it was very good at highlighting the differences between CoC 1st ed and 2nd ed. The use of tactics was very useful too.
Personally, I hate video reports or reviews and never watch them. I much prefer a written report as, like you say, I can skim the whole thing then read certain parts in detail and it's much easier to refer back to.
Your report was very inspiring so I'm itching to give CoC version 2 a try as soon as I can

Your blog has always been a source of inspiration for me.
I'm still trying to improve on what I do for my own blog and the link to your How I Write a Game Report is priceless.

Glad to see there's still people out there that like the written battle report.

Thanks for sharing. Your reports are the gold standard in this field. Even though you have kindly provided a tutorial on their writing, they still require a lot of dedication and self discipline, not that evident when you're carried away by the game.
Thanks also for providing insights into the way CoC2 works. Makes me feel like trying these rules after their 1st version, once I have done that Sharp Practice project I was enticed into by your very blog. ;-)
