In looking at the French board in particular they make reference to "a non mercenary hero".
In looking at the French list I don't see how I can have a hero other than a specialist or warlord. Am I missing something?
Thanks for any insight.

There could be mercenary heroes in this or other Saga books (look in the mercenary or similar 'guys anyone can have' section at the back). Age of Chivalry might be compatible with Age of Crusades. The text could be there 'just in case' of new books or rules errata. The usual heroes are army specific and not heroes

As far as I can see the only non-Warlord hero the French can have is a Knight, but he is a Mercenary.

Thank you both; at least I don't feel I am missing something. I am referring to Knighthood on the French board to be specific.

Probably will be addressed in errata whenever it comes out. Until then I will use a knight specialist from the back of the book.
Thanks!

Joe
