The Duelists
The Princess Bride
Potop, or The Deluge

Do you play Dueling games? What rules do you use? I find a tic tac toe grid very boring. Then throw in 1970s added and subtraction factors. Boring.
Is there anything better?

I just got Zorro and the Elcalde figures. An appreciated gift. 👍
I also have some Old Glory and Foundry sets.
I have several Blackbeard and Lt Maynard suitable figures.
"Leave him alone! He's mine!" And all form a circle of admirers to watch the Big Guys duke it out.

Rules? Probably different from "ordinary" skirmish rules.
How do you do it?'

We still play "En Garde!" from the late 1970s.

The Duel
Alternative Armies, duelling Elves.
Might have played it when it came out in the early 1990's not since then.

I recently sold a copy of "En Garde" to Noble Knight Games.

Not well known set of rules, but 'Plume and Blade' by Bloody Scotsman Games is nicely cinematic.

Take a look at Gloire. More like RPG lite

There's Anno Domini 1666, a board game with miniatures set in a fantasy version of late 17th century Vienna. It has a detailed fencing system and, since it's made by a Polish company, it even has figures of the characters from Potop and Fire and Sword.

bogdanwaz beat me to it. The AD1666 fighting system is really great and manages to incorporate a lot of fun detail and finesse without getting bogged down. Also, although *technically* a board game, it doesn't require the use of a game board and some players opt for "traditional" tabletop buildings, terrai, etc.

There was a game from I'll say the mid-70s. I thought it was called Duel. It came in a black box. In the box was a fold out fencing strip, two heavy card fencers, and the rules. I believe it was card driven.

I will say that video of Plume and Blade looked intriguing and fun. I also liked the "proscenium stage" effect of the particular scenario; it just seemed to fit a battle of the Four Musketeers.
