The current underlying issue is access to certain Buddhist temples in the area. Cambodia's official religion is Theravada Buddhism. Thailand doesn't have an official religion, but most people there are Theravada Buddhists. So members of the same sect of the same religion that teaches peace and not causing harm are about to kill each other over access to temples of that same religion. Humans: No wonder the aliens have cut us off from interstellar society. |

Another conflict over religion … hmmm … Seems those humans just get over that sort of thing. Yeah, the aliens probably wrote us off as a very primitive culture. Among other things … a long time ago. |
