You were asked – TMP link

What is the oldest historical battle which you have played with miniatures on the tabletop?

14% said "dinosaurs – 65 million years ago"
13% said "Bronze Age 3300 BC to 1200 BC"
13% [TIE] said "Classical Greek Wars 4th and 5th centuries BC" OR "Punic Wars 264 BC to 146 BC"

My oldest battle on tabletop:

A Blood and Plunder faction vs. AI Dinosaur or "the big lizard". Grandchildren loved it moving the miniatures and dinosaur about.

Ps. The B&P miniatures were 1/32 sized and the big lizard huge.

Dinos being pre-history, and the other two are periods of warfare, not battles. Kadesh was the only actual battle of recorded history that made the final round, and so the winner at 4%.

miniMo is technically correct, which is of course the best form of correct.

Technically, Kadesh is also pre-history, since it is only recorded in Egyptian propaganda carvings.

Real history begins with Herodotus. grin

Or maybe Thucydides. wink

Written on the Egyptian side in the 'poem' and the 'bulletin" (caption accompanying the carvings). Also recorded on the Hittite side (they won), and in the written peace treaty between the two (signifies an actual draw).
