"It's July 1, 936, and Alain Barbetorte has just landed near Dol, east of Dinan. He has returned from England, where he has been exiled since the 920s at the court of King Æthelstan, his godfather. Alain wishes to reclaim Brittany, then in Scandinavian hands. To do so, he must first attack the Viking camp of Péran, located in what is now Côtes d'Armor. He then sends his vanguard to the Breton village of Plédran, southeast of the camp, to secure an ancient Roman road. The two bands are now separated by the Urne, a small river…"
