Does anyone know of any rules (or have any suggestions) for using shotguns in TSAF |

Shotguns have a sweet spot for pellet spread. Too close and you put a hole in someone that you can put your fist through. Too far and the pellet spread makes it difficult to hit what you aim for. You can have a plus to hit at point blank range. For the next range band roll a D3 for how many targets may be hit, but you don't get a bonus to hit. For long range the chance for a hit should drop off. Sorry, I don't have the rules in front of me, so that is off the top of my head. I'd have to see what the pistol range bands look like. |

In the Courier 61 (Summer 1993)(available from Wargame Vault) Shotguns count as 3 figures firing. Range 18". Class I 1-6, Class II 1-5, Class III 1-4, Class IV 1-2. This is from the article about TSATF and the ACW. |

Larry Brom always said for weapons ranges in his rules that you were either within effective range or not. So the 18" range for shotguns described above shouldn't be range band dependent. The target classes listed are: I -- mass or close order in the open II -- open order or gun crews in the open III -- prone or rough terrain IV -- in buildings or entrenchment or behind walls. Jim |
