I had V1 and V2, before I handed them off to Darrell, an enthusiast. I thought that V2 was only good for the army lists. He stuck with V1, and made up his own armies. So, V2 was more or less useless and ignored. Heck, he does his own thing anyway, and doesn't feel bound by the written word. Often, they are mere suggestions. You say there's a V3? How about that. |

If I may drop in here. First Edition 1997. Second edition 2009. The third edition 2025. Certainly a big space between editions. Pretty rare these days. There is a 3rd edition due out this year. It will be called "People's Edition". It will still use the same models and armies (mostly), Thus, player's armies have not been made redundant. It should be released in August as print and pdf versions. All versions of AK are still supported. Version 3 will have the playsheets and battle sheets free to download from the PP website. I will put a summary of AK people's edition on the PP website next week so that folk can have a read. Some will like People's edition and some will not. martin |

Martin, having read people rave about 1st edition, some years ago I bought the 2nd edition but was disappointed with it. Somehow I felt it lacked the charm, fun, magic, whatever it was that people liked about 1st edition. For the 3rd edition, can I plea that you try to recapture whatever it was in 1st edition that people loved so much and made the rules a beloved classic. I think that I am trying to say or ask that you try to go beyond just the mechanics but really make an effort to capture the charm, fun, chaos and madness of such battles in Africa. Looking forward to 3rd edition and love your rules. Oh, will 3rd edition be moving to a grid? I really appreciate no measuring. Steve |

It will still use the same models and armies (mostly), Thus, player's armies have not been made redundant. Since Our Guy develops his own idea of what opposing forces should look like, that won't be a problem. 😄 |
