From a quick read of the new law, it appears that selling wargame figures, new or used, will be punishable if they contain more than .009 lead percentage.

The great Lead Scare of the 1990's removed pretty much all of the lead in war game figures. I might have some lead-containing figures which I cast in my PA molds, in the early 2000's, but they're all painted. They would have to do a lead analysis to prove it, melting them down. It's a stupid, pointless law, which will be nearly impossible to enforce on existing samples of items banned.

When the house keys disappear from the stores in the Twin Cities (it is their population which controls Minnesota, politically), the population will cry out and the law will be repealed. You cannot fix Stupid, they have to learn it the hard way.

Think about it: the entire key and lock industry would need to switch to lead/cadmium free keys, and that will not happen for one small-market State, out of 50. Pretty much all house lock systems will be swept from the store shelves: even electronic locks come with metal keys… ROFL! Cheers!

Never underestimate the stupidity of the legislature.

Not too long ago Ohio passed a law making it a criminal offense for a police officer to handcuff a pregnant female -- for anything -- or the officer could be criminally charged. After a lot of mumbling, the legislature said they didn't really mean or understand what they voted for and amended the law.

Someone obviously had a lot of spare time. Its almost Pythonesque! So fidget spinners are named and shamed but not bullets? What about reenactors with muskets?
WOFTAM.

@79thPA- Wtf? how bizarre

Minnesota is becoming as wacky as California.

When lead is fully outlawed, we'll make bullets out of uranium. They'll be much safer.

The People's Republic of Minnesota 😂

Maybe their current politicians were actually victims of lead poisoning. 🤔

That would actually explain a lot.

Zephyr127 May 2025 2:39 p.m. PST

Gosh, that's about as stupid as outlawing drinking the water because they still have lead piping somewhere in the water system… >rolls eyes<

Depleted uranium, Oberlindes. Let's do it right. A DU round should have better penetration.

robert piepenbrink you beat me to it!

GHQ miniatures is based in Minnesota, though they don't use any lead to my knowledge.

If as stated before (during the discussion on Tariffs), 3D printing is about to or has replaced most miniatures, this really shouldn't be a problem at all…

Well, I have sampled several 3D printed miniatures, and I am NOT impressed.

Grattan54 Supporting Member of TMP27 May 2025 7:07 p.m. PST

Me either. I will stick with lead. When that is no longer available I will stop buying figures.

Hitman27 May 2025 7:41 p.m. PST

Hey Grattan54, if that happens, remember to keep some unpainted in case, we'll you know…🤪

Bunkermeister27 May 2025 8:44 p.m. PST

How many kids in that state get lead poisoning from the items that will be banned?

Why that particular percentage and not some higher number?

What is the percentage of lead in keys?

Is that state so perfect that there is nothing else for the legislature to do?

None of the above, it's about micromanaging control of people (and/or angling for grift from the targeted industries in exchange for "exemptions"…)

Nanny state will protect you from yourself and the Boogeyman
It's for your own good they say.
I might have 500 pounds of lead at home and none in my thousands of figures.
