Yes, despite our playing Sword Weirdos before, we decided to try the game it developed from, Space Weirdos. I think its quite easy to pick up and surprisingly tactical despite its apparent simplicity. If you want to see how the games went, I have a report on my blog at this link I had a couple of pics not come out but think the story should make sense!!!
Enjoy! |

Just curious, you mention "apparent simplicity", but you say you are getting the rules sorted out. Is that just the remembering you need to do, no matter how simple a game is? |

Yes Andy, its a fairly simple system, but its hard to remember bits of it. Lawrence and I needed to prompt each other when getting shot at we could dodge or return Overwatch fire, for example. In addition we needed to sort out when a missile struck my officer how we diced for the other Marine in cover on the level above. We ended up rolling to hit and keeping that roll against the other target, who diced a higher denomination dice as he was in cover. We had done that against fireballs in Sword Weirdos, but had forgotten – we don't play weirdos terribly often. |

I ran a few games of Space Weirdos (and one of Sword Weirdos) at Little Wars and it went great. Once you get the hang of the system (it is very simple, but has surprisingly deep strategies and nuances you don't pick up until you've played a bit), it is really run and rewarding. |
