Rick Ashby and I met up for a friendly game of Valour & Fortitude Napoleonics in 15mm in San Antonio Texas. Rick played his British and I played French at 300points each. Rick is running the first ever Texas Napoleonic Tournament using these great rules from Perry Miniatures – BTW they are free for download at their web page. We had not played in a hwile so this was a good way to dust off the cobwebs and test out our armies we might use in the tournament.

The tournament will be held on 7 June at Game Kastle in Austin. Contact Rick for more details. The French came on in the same old style – column and attacking, and Rick's British held firm in line awaiting the French assault.

The moved first and took a double move to swiftly cross the field and take the center objective. The British poured fire into the French columns and Rick moved his cavalry on the right flank of the French advance – the French cavalry brigade was positioned on the left.

The cards did not go my way in that I got the "shuffle the deck" card twice in a row. The British household cavarly caught a French infantry battalion in line and quickly routed it from the field, they then continued the breakthrough charge but were stopped by a French column after I rolled some very good attack dice and Rick did the opposite.

The combined French attack columns and heavy cavalry brigade on my left carried the day and the game ended in a French victory.

We had a great time playing these easy to learn and play rules, it was also great having Martin Zamarripa along providing comentary. If you play Napoleonics you should plan to join us on the 7th of June. The rules are easy to learn and the game is fun to play.
