Greetings Fellow Gamers,
Let me first give everyone, a heartfelt "Thank You", for a convention well done. Our Little Wars-40th Anniversary did not disappoint. In many cases our numbers were the largest ever, and that is all because of your efforts and help.
In this issue we have our Little Wars recap. First is a simple by the numbers feature which covers the salient points of the con. There are pictures and reviews everywhere, so I posted 4 links which you should definitely click, to get get your best coverage. The HMGS-Midwest Facebook page has day by day coverage of the con, along with pictures of all of our award winners. Friends of the show, SITREP Podcasting has their video online with some great interviews and insights. Our own Jim Purky (Der Alte Fritz) has great blogsite with battalions of pics. Be sure to see part 1 and part 2. Finally Michael T. Murphy does a comprehensive review of the Little Wars experience. Combining gaming and dining options.
The Board is extremely pleased with the outcome and appreciative of all the feedback we have received. It was hard work, but the results were well worth it. Earlier in the week we held our first post-con board Meeting and after patting ourselves on the back a little bit, we got started on 2026. Next year's con will again be held in Lisle, we are looking to extend that contract to 2027/2028 as well. The theme will be "Independence" to commemorate America's own anniversary. Dates are
Thursday thru Friday, April 23-26. We looked at finances and for the past 5 years we have have averaged around a $3 USDk surplus. This is good news because, we will be holding all our prices at the current level. This also gives us the chance to fund some new projects and get some extras for the con.
This weekend our own Pete Aguilu is running Aircon in Milwaukee and Libertyville. A fantastic air war themed con, be sure to be a part of it.
Finally, in this issue is the update on the upcoming Board elections. All the current members have displayed an interest in continuing for another term. (I didn't even have to get them drunk first). So if you approve of what we are doing show us your support next month during elections. Remember only HMGS-Midwest members can vote. If you bought a Badge for Little Wars (not a shoppers badge however) you also purchased a membership. If you missed Little Wars you can still get a membership via the Chedder up link, later in the newsletter. This will still entitle you to all the other HMGS-Midwest events throughout the year. Lastly our regular features have returned.
That is all for now, see you around the gaming table.
Kevin
