Painting my first army. Not a fan of the GW color scheme for Tyranids. A little too "My Little Pony" for me. Looking for something pickier. Figure on the left is base colors only, the one on the right same base but with washes/contrast paint applied. Still not sure what color to make the guns and hooves. Will be doing painting before assembly from now on, tough to reach all the crevices when the critters are put together.

I am not a Fantasy gamer but I am fascinated by the colour choices you folk have. A Napoleonic French infantryman is painted in *these* colours, no others. But you have choice! And, IMO, the choices you've made for these figures are superb. Cold &…insecty. |

I like the scheme. I particularly like the description of GW as "My little pony" I would suggest that you think about variations for the more fancy models Could think about color accents. Either look at a color wheel, finding the opposite of green and yellow (magenta?) or just pick something. A reddish orange might look really nice Some people get great mileage out of oil washes. The advantage is that you can wipe it off the surfaces more easily than an acrylic wash Warhammer is of course a slippery path to impecunity. I trust you will not neglect your historical troops John |
