What's the best current rules for Vietnam using 2028mm figures ? What's the basing ? How many figures per side ? How many vehicles ? Ta |

Best is entirely subjective. How many figures and vehicles would you like to have? I am looking for a rule set myself, and have bought Charlie Don't Surf and FNG to see what they offer. |

I just got BattlegroundHD. It's a newer version of BattlegroundWW2 from EasyEight. The figure count will probably be low until you're familiar with the system and even then a platoon could be a big game. Basing is single fig, probably up to a platoon per side on a big table in 28mm, a few vehicles. Not saying the best, just saying it's out there. |

Hello Peter Vietnam is certainly a popular gaming period. There are lots of rule sets about from which to choose. Peter Pig has a very popular set called "Vietnam". It is not battles, but a game in which VC and US both take a full part in scenery, play and outcome. link Here are also 5 videos about the game. link Have a look at these and see what you think martin |

We are in the middle of a campaign for Nam '68: Tour of Duty. Published by Plastic Soldier Company. Great game. Single based figure. Fire support is handled off-board. Has rules for vehicles, we've not used them yet. Jim is running the campaign and coming up with the campaign scenarios so I cannot tell you how easy it is or if there are charts to assist in scenario creation, but we have played games with as few as 10 figures and as many as 30ish… What I like is the 'Action / Reaction' system. The activating side has 'Basic and Advanced' actions. The number of basic actions are decided by a d6 roll (more then one d6 in larger games). The number of Advanced actions are determined by a chit draw, the chits being in a bell curve numbered between 2-5. The reactive side has 'Reactions', the number of which are determined also by a chit draw. The number of Actions / Reactions are kept secret from your opponent. The games have all been pretty close and since we are playing a campaign with the same Platoon and Soldiers it gives a good feeling of (when you win) "That is a victory"? Also, in my opinion, if you play it without a campaign setting, you could use the rules for any modern setting without too much trouble. If you would like to see the AAR for our latest mission, Jim posts them over on the Lead Adventures Fourm: link Dave |

What do you mean by "current" Vietnam rules? |

What rules would you suggest for a brown water navy Vietnam game? |

Sorry Mark, your Peter Pig Vietnam is years out of date. The more recent version is 8 years old and can be bought as pdf or print form. I appreciate that the passage of time is a constant problem with reviews but they do need to be valid otherwise readers get the wrong information. I see that there is a hyperlink in Extra Crispy's page to the 2017 version of the Men of Company B. Unfortunately it leads to a write-up of the 1995 version of Shako, which I understand are Napoleonic rules. |

I'm currently using One Hour Skirmish Wargames (with a few house rules added) or Xenos Rampant. Both work very well for Vietnam. |

Well , I don't know what happened to the new Men of Company B write up. I'll correct that when I port the Nam summaries over to the new Wiki pages… |

The most recent set I have bought is "Bohica", a skirmish set of rules for around 30 figures per side. Videos out there to see how it plays. link |

Are there any rules that are particularly good for handling riverine craft and helicopters? (Probably better suited for 10mm.) |

YouTube has a number of play-throughs. Company B and FNG to name a couple. I won't list them all. Go search. |

Force on force is my current go to for platoon actions including helicopters. The source book ambush alley has rules for brown navy actions. Richard clark did an excellent article in one of the TFL specials on brown water assaults in support of Charlie don't surf which are also good rules. Joe |
