CoC Espana has rules for tear gas – used by various guards types, mine are Carabineros, but these rules are not clear (to me at least). It says that it may be used once per game, but is that once per section or once per platoon. If you have a single section of guards attached to another force can they use it once? And does that mean that if you have a platoon with two three sections, each can use it once per game? Also, tear gas is used instead of shooting – does that mean that the entire section gives up its shooting phase to discharge tear gas, or just a single squad? Interested in anyone's thoughts. |

Given that it says "Troops may engage…" that all six of the squads can choose to use tear gas when they fire they rifles once per game (and thus target a unit within 18" and inflict d6/d3 shock on that unit). So you probably want to give each squad a token and remove it once they fire tear gas. Since it is possible to activate a since squad (i.e., team) with a 1 on a command dice or the entire section (i.e., large squad), you would just track them individually. So a 6 man squad could use a 1 to activate to fire in a phase and fire tear gas and in the next phase, the section could active on a 2 and all would fire -- one would have to fire their rifles, but one or both of the others could use tear gas. My guess is when using a leader's command initiatives, you could fire the entire section using tear gas or rifles, but if you only wanted one squad to use tear gas, that would require a separate command initiative. That is how I read it… |

Thanks Custosarmorum. That means there is a lot of tear gas available in a battle! |
