Hopefully, it's nothing more than the traditional exchange of incivilities at the border. |

I doubt if anyone thinks that this is a nuclear response event. |

They have hated each other for decades. Even before Pakistan broke away from India, a couple of year after WWII. But it is no surprise it is based on religion. I.e. Hindus vs. islam … FWIW they both hate Christians. Some real atrocities going on against Christians in both countries. Pretty sure they won't be nuking each other. They will just shoot missiles, etc. back and forth. A lot of posturing and saber rattling … |

India is cutting off the water; that will cause escalation. |

Let's look at the timing again: 1.The US and India start trade and tariff talks 2. China tries to get India to reject the US trade talks 3. India rejects China and cuts a zero-tariff deal with the US 4. China's client state, Pakistan, launches a terrorist attack on India Seems pretty clear this is Xi's doing. He's also been threatening the Philippines, Vietnam and others both militarily and economically. |

I sure hope this is wrong, but I think the headline is likely to be fantasy click bait as these two do their dance and tit for tat. No military targets? Why the headline in that case? |

A "Pakky" government man specifically said that nukes would be used if provocations continued. Saw/heard it with my own eyes/ears. Are the parties actually so stupid as to let it go that far? I hope not, but was the death of an unpopular Austrian Arch-Duke worth World War 1? Of course not, but nations, like individuals, are always capable of acting emotionally, not logically. It really does seem the world is heating up all over…. TVAG |

Korsun I heard water come up before. Pak has said cutting off water will be an act of war. Didn't mention nukes but why say "oh hey, keep hitting us we won't radiate you". I'm curious how far this goes since a good chunk of my employer is in India and any disruption would be quite the show for my job. |

" FWIW they both hate Christians." What a silly thing to write. |

Seems pretty clear this is Xi's doing. I don't think it's clear at all. There's numerous states who'd find an advantage in an Indo-Pakistani blue. Iran and Afghanistan (divert the Pakistani government's eyes from Peshwar and the Pashtun separatists) are two other examples- with fundamentalist terrorists to spare, as well. Then there's the Sikhs, who are agitating for autonomy and would benefit from Modi being distracted by Pakistan. They could be home-grown Kashmiri fanatics, as well. Pakistan isn't well known for keeping discouraging the various flavours of fundamentalist murder machines. Just to be different, why don't people wait until there's some more evidence of which state- if any- sponsored the first attack, rather than immediately pointing at the current bogeyman? The PRC scenario is possible, but not a certainty, nor even the most probable. |

The PRC scenario is possible, but not a certainty, nor even the most probable. True, it could also have been a faction supported by Pakistan, but over which they have little control that waged the attacks behind this conflict. Though the timing is good for China… |
