Need some clarification as I resume Pulp Alley play after a years-long break. The 2nd Ed. is new to me; I bought a new 2nd Ed. Starter Deck but some of the cards are different from 1st Ed. Can I still use 1st Ed. Fortune cards? How compatible are the two Starter decks, or the booster decks before 2018? Are some booster cards designed to only be used with the earlier expansion books/adventures? Can they be freely added to 1st or 2nd Ed, Fortune decks? And how is the Horror Deck (plus boosters) affected? All my cards for the Horror deck pre-date the 2nd Ed.

I invested a lot in 1st Ed. rule books and expansions and cards and am reluctant to see them wasted, but also, I do not want to introduce rules problems by mixing decks if this is going to cause a clash with the current rules.

E.g.: what can I still reliably use from my collection, as noted by name/printing date: Starter Deck (2010) 100 cards; "PI" boosters (2013) 5 cards; "BI" boosters (2014) 10 cards; Phantom Pack (2015) 9 cards (missing 6?); Secret Charter (2016) 15 cards; Shadow Legacy (2017) 15 cards (two packs); Horror Deck (2016) 48 cards; Horror Booster 1 (2017) 15 cards; Horror Booster 2 (2018) 15 cards.

Long post, but I wanted to get all the questions out of the way at one time, plus add enough detail to clarify what I'm talking about. Thanks!

I've continued to use my original Pulp Alley cards with the newer edition. No problem at all for me.

I'm concerned because I have a full page of errata/changes downloaded from Pulp Alley publishers that describe 11 or 12 cards in the original Fortune deck that have been changed since 2010. That's a lot of revisions to keep track of in a game. And I don't know if it would be a good idea to mix up cards of different vintages with inconsistent rules among them.

I play solo, so it doesn't matter that much to me.

I replaced the original Fortune deck with the 2nd Edition one, but still used the booster decks I had bought for various scenarios and the Horror deck. IIRC the changes weren't that big a deal. And I always felt free to add/remove cards depending on the scenario, it's not really the type of game to need to stick to the rules too strictly.

Whoops, I should have said, TWO-page errata sheet that noted all the changes to the 1st Ed. deck from the 2nd Ed. I missed turning the page over! There's more than I first thought.

These are all small but significant changes and even slight changes will reconfigure the game (or else, why were they made at all?), plus the ratio of cards in a Fortune deck will affect the chances of a given result appearing. So I take all this seriously in terms of clear, consistent game play and in conforming to the designer's intent.

Dave P. has sent me a little feedback and I believe going forward I will only use the 2nd Ed. Starter Deck and then add some or all of the expansion/booster cards to give the Fortune deck a bit more variety and heft. Those haven't been revised yet. I do hear that the Horror deck(s) are going to be revised and republished and the original expansion decks not reprinted. (So get 'em now?)
