Of the Union Brigade, surely the most challenging in any scale. The yellow against red, scarlet, crimson (whatever colour you choose for Waterloo "British" coats) is less attractive than the blue and laced edging of the RNBD or Royals. They do tend to be sidelined I think. OK, we can argue the grey horse for the trumpeter, but it looks great. How about the lettering on the edges of the portmanteau (the rolled pack behind the saddle)? Your hope is met. We love them |

Thanks for the nice comments! The yellow facings are a nice variation from the blue facings of most of the other British heavy cavalry regiments. I found sources for yellow, blue and even white lettering for the portmanteau. I choose to paint it yellow to emphasize the colour of this regiment. The trumpeter's horse shouldn't be grey ? |

The lettering is just so impressively done. Horse Guards gave strict instructions years earlier that trumpeters were not to ride greys. That they did feel that need to do so shows how widely it must have been adopted and for obvious reasons. It was almost a rule to ignore such edicts in the British Army, where regt traditions were so treasured. The grey looks great and if every French cavalry unit, however Light, can carry an eagle into battle in 20 or 28mm, why change anything? |

I do not want to detract from this, as previously stated, fabulous work, but I was under the impression ( hopefully mistakenly) that British line cavalry had brown tack, with the Guards units having black. Best wishes, Chris |
