Our latest game used the 'Hail Caesar' rules to re-fight an ancient invasion of Macedonia.
The fictional battle of Antiacid was a struggle between two 500 point armies of Galatians versus a Successor army. The game was engrossing & went down to the wire.

Dicing for deployment always creates both opportunities and surprises:

The two armies were fundamentally different – wild warbands against disciplined phalanx, war elephants against scythed chariots.

As usual great deeds of daring and cunning tactical plans were balanced against lucky & unlucky dice throws.

The allotted time for the game arrived & a draw was declared with an elephant stampede & a phalanx outflanking indicating to go on would have just resulted in unnecessary metal & plastic blood being spilt.

I will say that the Celts did try to cheat with their druid's casting unspeakable spells:

- to no avail.

Druid spells that didn't work?! That game was rigged.

Maybe they were using hit-and-missletoe.
