I'm sure its been discussed before but after 1808 if one or bother of the Elite Companies were detached the remainer could not form a column with a 2 company frontage How would you depict a one company frontage French column especially as most companies were rarely at full strength?

IIRC they didn't care it wasn't perfectly rectangular, and the 'odd' grenadier company would be on its own at the back.

In real life they are not moved on bases. Maybe the rear company extends to the two company column, or perhaps just slot in behind in the middle of the line (so to speak).
